Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disease that speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells. A recent study by the CDC National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey estimates that 6.7 million adults have psoriasis in the US.
In this study, we learned that 84% of people with psoriasis have their quality of life affected at least a moderate amount by their disease. Only 40% of respondents said they were satisfied with the care they are receiving for their psoriasis. Thirty-six percent of respondents reported having at least one other chronic comorbid condition, and one in five reported suffering from depression.
